Cheengeri Hills, also called Cheengeri Mala, rises near Ambalavayal in the Sulthan Bathery side of Wayanad district, Keralam. Unlike many Wayanad treks that pass through dense forest, the route is noted for open granite terrain and wide views. Keralam Tourism describes a climb that begins more gradually and becomes steeper toward the upper section, with ropes provided at difficult rocky stretches.
One of the main rewards is the panorama over Karapuzha Dam and its backwaters; on clear days, visitors can also look toward other Wayanad hills and the distant Nilgiris. DTPC Wayanad recommends the location for trekking, and sunrise or late-day conditions can add depth to the landscape for photography. Because the route includes exposed rock and steeper sections, sensible footwear and attention to weather are important.
