Malakkappara is a quiet tea-growing hill destination in Thrissur district near the Kerala–Tamil Nadu border. Surrounded by Western Ghats forests, plantation landscapes and the wider Parambikulam–Anamalai hill system, it is valued as much for the scenic forest drive as for the destination itself. About Malakkappara

Malakkappara is a small high-range tea settlement in Thrissur district, close to the Kerala–Tamil Nadu border and reached through one of the most scenic forest drives in central Kerala. Kerala Tourism describes the destination as a tea town surrounded by the landscapes of the Parambikulam Tiger Reserve, Anamalai Tiger Reserve and Nelliampathy Hills. The journey from the Athirappilly–Sholayar side passes through dense Western Ghats forest, river scenery and plantation country, so the route itself is a major part of the experience.

Tea-covered slopes, cool highland weather and a quieter pace distinguish Malakkappara from Thrissur’s busier attractions. The area lies within the wider Chalakudy high-range tourism belt and is suitable for travellers interested in plantations, landscape photography, birdlife and long scenic drives. Because the approach passes through forest-controlled stretches and can be affected by weather or operational restrictions, visitors should check current access conditions before travelling, avoid unnecessary night driving and respect wildlife and forest rules throughout the route.
