Mangrove Trail, Kizhake Kandankali

The Mangrove Trail at Kizhake Kandankali, around five kilometres from Payyannur town in Kannur district, is an ecotourism experience built around a living mangrove ecosystem. The trail takes visitors through a landscape of tidal creeks, waterways and dense mangrove cover, with birdwatching, canoeing and observation of wetland life among the main attractions. The experience is designed as a low-impact way to discover the ecological role of mangroves while supporting local participation and awareness.

Visitors should keep noise low, avoid touching or damaging mangrove roots, and use authorised local operators or guides where required. Tide, rain and weather can materially affect the route and experience.
