Beaches

Thumpoly Beach

Thumpoly Beach is a coastal spot in Thumpoly on the northern side of Alappuzha town, offering Arabian Sea views and the atmosphere of a traditional fishing neighbourhood. Its appeal is quieter and more local than a major tourist beach, with boats, sandy stretches and changing evening light shaping the experience. It suits relaxed walks, photography and visitors exploring Alappuzha’s everyday coastal landscape.

About Thumpoly Beach

Thumpoly Beach brings together the sea and a lived-in coastal neighbourhood on the Alappuzha side of Kerala’s Arabian Sea shoreline. Thumpoly is a recognised Alappuzha postal locality, and the beach is best visited for its natural views and fishing-community character rather than for formal attractions. Depending on the time of day, visitors may see boats, nets and other signs of local marine livelihoods alongside the open coast.

The atmosphere is particularly appealing to photographers and travellers who enjoy short, unstructured stops away from crowded promenades. As with other smaller beaches in the district, facilities can be limited and water conditions should never be assumed to be safe for swimming. A visit can be combined easily with Alappuzha town, backwater jetties and other coastal locations, making Thumpoly Beach a useful contrast to the district’s famous houseboat image.
