Mudiyam Kayal is a lesser-known backwater and nature attraction in the Parappanangadi area of Malappuram district, Keralam. According to the Malappuram District Administration, the kayal covers about ten acres and is surrounded by coconut palms, creating a distinctly coastal Keralam landscape. The waterbody has a connection toward the sea and has been identified as suitable for water-based recreation, although visitors should confirm locally whether any organised activities are operating at the time of travel.
Mudiyam is approached from the Parappanangadi–Kadalundi Main Road and lies near the ancient Ravimangalam temple area. The attraction is best experienced as a quiet stop for waterside views, photography and observing the vegetation and everyday life of the coastal belt. It can be combined with Parappanangadi, Kadalundi and nearby beaches.
As this is a relatively low-profile tourism spot, visitors should not expect the infrastructure of a major backwater resort destination.
