Amarambalam Reserve Forest

Amarambalam Reserve Forest, often referred to as New Amarambalam Reserve Forest, lies in the Nilambur region of Malappuram district, Kerala. Kerala Forest Department records place New Amarambalam within the Kerala portion of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve, one of the Western Ghats’ most important conservation landscapes. The forest is part of a wider ecological belt linked with Karimpuzha and the forested highlands toward the Nilgiris.

Its tourism value comes primarily from the surrounding natural environment: evergreen forest, streams, steep hill country and rich plant and animal diversity. This is not a conventional open-access park, and visitors should not enter reserve-forest areas without following Forest Department rules, permissions and local guidance. The Amarambalam area can be approached as part of a broader Nilambur nature itinerary that includes forest, river and wildlife destinations.

Monsoon conditions may make roads and forest approaches difficult, so current access information should be checked before travel.
