Beypore Pulimuttu

Beypore Pulimuttu is a coastal breakwater associated with the historic port of Beypore in Kozhikode district, Kerala. Positioned where the Chaliyar River reaches the Arabian Sea, the structure provides a distinctive vantage point over the estuary, harbour approaches and open coast. Rather than treating it as an isolated attraction, visitors can understand it as part of Beypore’s larger maritime landscape.

The experience is strongest in the late afternoon and evening, when the sea breeze and changing light bring out the character of the waterfront. Fishing boats, port movements and the wide horizon create a scene very different from Kozhikode’s city-centre attractions. Beypore Beach is nearby, and the locality is also famous for traditional Uru construction, making it possible to combine coastal scenery with maritime heritage in one outing.

As the Pulimuttu is exposed to the sea, conditions can become rough during strong winds or monsoon weather.
