Amarad Waterfall

Amarad Waterfall is located in the Kattippara area of Kozhikode district, around ten kilometres from Thamarassery according to the district administration's tourism information. Kattippara is a hilly village characterised by hard-rock terrain, and that landscape gives the waterfall a more rugged, local character than heavily developed tourist sites. The attraction is best approached as a nature stop within a wider Thamarassery highland itinerary.

Visitors come for the sound and movement of water, green slopes and the quieter atmosphere of rural eastern Kozhikode. Official district information indicates that the waterfall is within walking distance from the Kattippara side, so footwear suitable for uneven ground is useful. As with other seasonal waterfalls in Kerala, flow, trail condition and accessibility can change substantially with rainfall.

Wet rocks can be slippery and sudden increases in water volume are possible during the monsoon. Travellers should therefore follow local advice and avoid unsafe entry into pools or fast-moving water. Amarad can be paired with other nearby hill and waterfall destinations in the Thamarassery region.
