Kariyathumpara

Kariyathumpara is a scenic nature spot in Koorachundu Panchayat, Kozhikode district, Kerala, on the route towards Kakkayam. Kerala Tourism places the destination about 45 kilometres from Kozhikode and describes a landscape of rolling green hills, natural springs and pools formed among the rocks. The combination of grass-covered slopes, water and distant highland views gives Kariyathumpara its distinctive appeal.

Unlike a formal park or wildlife enclosure, Kariyathumpara is valued primarily for its natural setting. It works well as a pause on a drive towards Kakkayam or as part of a day exploring Koorachundu and the eastern side of Kozhikode district. The scenery can become especially lush during and after the rainy season, although wet ground and rocks require extra care.

Visitors should avoid littering, respect any locally marked restricted areas and treat natural pools cautiously because depth and current can change. The surrounding Koorachundu–Kakkayam belt is one of Kozhikode's attractive eco-tourism landscapes, making Kariyathumpara a convenient introduction to the region.
