Vayalada Viewpoint

Vayalada is a hill destination near Balusseri in Kozhikode district, Kerala, rising to around 2,000 feet above sea level. Kerala Tourism describes it as the 'Gavi of Malabar' and places it about 40 kilometres from Kozhikode and roughly 12 kilometres from Balusseri. The final approach includes a short trek of about one kilometre, rewarding visitors with wide highland views.

The Vayalada area includes viewpoints such as Mount Vayalada, Mullanpara or Islands View and Kottakunnu. From these heights, visitors can look across the Peruvannamuzhi reservoir landscape, Koorachundu, Perambra and small islands visible within the water system. The hill is popular for cool weather, mist, photography and short weekend walks rather than strenuous mountain trekking.

Official local-government information places Vayalada within Panangad Grama Panchayat, which falls in Thamarassery Taluk. Weather can change quickly in the hills, and paths may become slippery during rain, so suitable footwear and caution near exposed viewpoints are important. Early morning and clear late-afternoon conditions generally offer the best visibility.
