Janakikad Ecotourism

Janakikad Ecotourism is a forest-based nature destination near Kuttiyadi in Kozhikode district, within the Kuttiyadi range of the Kozhikode Forest Division. Kerala Tourism describes the green tract as roughly 131 hectares and records that it takes its name from V. K.

Janaki Amma, sister of statesman V. K. Krishna Menon, to whom the land once belonged.

The forest supports varied plant life, butterflies and birds including hornbills and jungle fowl, making it attractive for slow nature walks and birdwatching. Tree-top viewing structures, trekking experiences and rafting have also been associated with the ecotourism project. The Chavaramuzhi River, a tributary of the Kuttiyadi, runs along the forest and adds to the cool, shaded character of the landscape.

Kerala Forest Department records place Janakikadu in Maruthonkara village, and India Post lists Marudonkara and nearby Vannathichira under PIN 673513. Visitors should follow Forest Department rules, seasonal access conditions and safety instructions, particularly around river activities and monsoon periods.
