Kolavi Palam Beach

Kolavi Palam Beach is located at Payyoli on the Kozhikode coast and is known for more than its long sandy shoreline. Kerala Tourism highlights the beach as an important nesting ground for endangered Olive Ridley sea turtles, which traditionally come ashore during the nesting season. Local fishermen have been associated with 'Theeram', a conservation initiative created to help protect nests and eggs, giving the beach a strong community-based conservation identity.

The coast is also noted for shallow waters, golden sand and coconut-fringed surroundings, and it lies between the Payyoli and Vadakara coastal stretches. For visitors, the attraction is the combination of an uncrowded Kerala beach experience with the knowledge that the shore supports a sensitive marine life cycle. Turtle nesting sites should never be disturbed, touched or illuminated unnecessarily at night.
