About Thirikakkayam Waterfalls

Thirikakkayam Waterfalls is a lesser-known cascade in the hilly northeastern part of Kozhikode district, associated with the Vilangad–Vaanimel area. Kerala Tourism places the waterfall near Karuvalam on Vaanimel Mountain and along the Vaanimel–Vilangad route, describing water dropping from a height of about 50 metres. The Government of Kerala's Vilangad Village Office also lists Thirikakkayam among the village's tourism attractions, helping distinguish the officially documented name from the more generic 'Vilangad Waterfalls' label used in some local lists.

The surrounding landscape is steep, green and partly forested, with the geography of Vilangad rising toward the borders of Wayanad and Kannur districts. Revenue records confirm Vilangad in Vatakara Taluk with PIN 673506. The waterfall is most dramatic in the wetter months, but strong flow, slippery rock and difficult approach conditions also increase risk at that time.
