Chellarkovil Viewpoint

Chellarkovil Viewpoint is one of the distinctive scenic stops on the Keralam–Tamil Nadu border in Idukki district. Keralam Tourism describes Chellarkovil as a hill village with broad views over the plains and valleys toward Tamil Nadu, along with a waterfall that becomes especially striking during the monsoon. The viewpoint area includes a watchtower-style lookout, and the destination has been associated with eco-tourism initiatives such as nature walks and visitor facilities.

Chellarkovil lies close to Anakkara and is commonly visited from the Kumily–Thekkady tourism belt, yet its open border panorama gives it a very different character from the forest-focused attractions around Periyar. Sunrise, sunset, mist and changing cloud cover can all transform the view, while the surrounding spice-growing high ranges add local character to the journey. The viewpoint is particularly rewarding when the weather is clear, while monsoon visits bring stronger waterfall scenery and a greener landscape; travellers should still expect mist, rain and reduced visibility at times.
