Iruttukanam

Iruttukanam is a high-range locality on the route between Adimali and Munnar in Idukki district, Keralam. Keralam Tourism’s route database places Iruttukanam in Pallivasal Panchayat, around 8 kilometres from Adimali on the Munnar road. Keralam Revenue records also identify Iruttukanam in connection with Anaviratty village in Devikulam taluk.

For travellers, the attraction is the journey and landscape: winding roads, spice-growing areas, wooded slopes and changing mountain views signal the transition from the lower ranges towards Munnar. Iruttukanam is therefore more accurately described as a scenic hill locality and road-trip stop than as a conventional tourism centre with a defined entrance or single monument.

Drivers should take care on bends, particularly during rain, mist or periods of low visibility. Wildlife movement can occur in the broader forested high ranges, so stopping in unsafe road sections or approaching animals is not advisable.
