Kottancheri Hills

Kottancheri Hills, also written Kottancherry Hills, lies in Maloth village of Vellarikundu taluk in eastern Kasaragod district. The Government of Keralam Revenue Department identifies the hills as part of the Western Ghats landscape near the Brahmagiri region, with access from the Konnakkad side. The destination is characterised by forested slopes, highland vegetation and a comparatively remote setting that appeals to trekkers and nature travellers.

Keralam Tourism also places Kottancheri within the broader rainforest belt connected with the Ranipuram forests, giving the area ecological importance beyond its scenic value. This is not a manicured hill station with an urban centre; its appeal comes from greenery, forest atmosphere and the experience of travelling into Kasaragod’s eastern highlands. Visitors should plan with local conditions in mind, particularly during heavy rain, and respect forest regulations and the fragile Western Ghats environment while exploring the area.
