Nileshwaram Palace is the former residence of the Nileshwar Rajas in Kasaragod, a Keralam-style heritage building now associated with the state’s folklore and archaeology activities.
Nileshwaram Palace stands in the historic town of Nileshwaram, the former seat of the Nileshwar Rajas and one of Kasaragod’s most important cultural centres. Keralam Tourism describes the palace as a two-storeyed building constructed in traditional Keralam style, with fine craftsmanship and woodwork reflecting the skills of earlier artisans. The royal family is believed to have moved into the region from Kozhikode centuries ago, and the palace became part of a wider network of kovilakoms, temples and sacred groves associated with Nileshwaram.
The building today functions in connection with the folklore centre of the Department of Archaeology, linking the royal monument with the study and preservation of local cultural traditions. Nileshwaram also remains known for Theyyam, temple festivals and handloom heritage. The town is in Hosdurg taluk and uses PIN 671314.
