About Jatayu Earth's Centre

Jatayu Earth's Centre is a major tourism landmark at Chadayamangalam in Kollam district, Kerala. The hilltop attraction is centred on a monumental sculpture of Jatayu, the legendary bird from the Ramayana who is remembered for attempting to protect Sita. The sculpture, promoted by DTPC Kollam as the world’s largest bird sculpture, transforms the mythological episode into a large-scale work of public art and a symbol of courage and protection.

Visitors reach the hilltop by cable car or the stair route and are rewarded with wide views over the rocky landscape and surrounding countryside. The wider centre also includes adventure-oriented activities and visitor facilities, giving the destination a mix of heritage interpretation, recreation and scenic tourism. Designed by filmmaker and sculptor Rajiv Anchal, the project has become one of Kollam’s best-known contemporary attractions.

It works particularly well for travellers interested in Kerala tourism, mythology-inspired art, panoramic viewpoints and family-friendly day trips from elsewhere in southern Kerala.
