Palaruvi Waterfalls is one of the best-known natural attractions in Kollam district, Kerala, located in the Aryankavu–Thenmala tourism belt of the Western Ghats. “Palaruvi” translates as “stream of milk,” a name inspired by the white appearance of the water as it descends over the rock face from a height of about 300 feet. The approach passes through a lush forest setting, and the combination of wooded slopes, running water and mountain air gives the destination a markedly different character from Kerala’s coastal attractions. Water volume changes significantly with the season, so the appearance and permitted visitor activities can vary with rainfall and safety conditions.
