Old Seminary, Kottayam

The Old Seminary in Kottayam, officially the Orthodox Theological Seminary and also known as Pazhaya Seminary or Kottayam Syrian College, is one of the city’s key Christian educational heritage sites. Keralam Tourism records its foundation in 1815 and highlights the institution’s wider influence on English education, early printing, Bible translation, dictionary work and scholarly activity in Keralam. The seminary campus also preserves a distinctive architectural environment, including a traditional multi-storeyed Keralam-style building and historic religious spaces.
