Nedumpuram Palace

Nedumpuram Palace is a heritage residence in the Thiruvalla region of Pathanamthitta district with connections to royal families from northern Keralam. DTPC Pathanamthitta traces the family to the Udayamangalam and Valluvanad lineages and records their southward movement during the period of Tipu Sultan’s campaigns. A branch eventually settled in the Thiruvalla area, where the surviving palace preserves traditional Keralam architectural character.

DTPC describes the structure as a pathinaru-kettu, an expanded courtyard-house form that reflects the spatial planning of historic aristocratic homes. Located only a few kilometres from Thiruvalla town, Nedumpuram can be included in a cultural itinerary covering temples, churches, river landscapes and old residences in the region. Because it is a heritage property rather than a large public museum complex, visitor access and interior viewing may be limited; travellers should respect private areas and confirm current visiting arrangements before arrival.
