Beemapally Dargah Shareef

Beemapally Dargah Shareef is located in the Beemapally area of Thiruvananthapuram, between the city and its southern coastal neighbourhoods. The shrine is associated with Syedunnisa Beema Beevi and her son and has become an important Muslim pilgrimage centre in Keralam. Keralam Tourism highlights the dargah’s Indo-Saracenic architectural character and its tradition of welcoming visitors from different faiths.

The best-known annual observance is the Beemapally Uroos, also called Chandanakkudam Mahotsavam, an eleven-day festival in which devotees bring decorated earthen pots associated with sandalwood offerings. During festival periods the neighbourhood becomes much busier, with religious ceremonies and large gatherings shaping the visitor experience. Outside festival days, the dargah offers a quieter opportunity to appreciate Thiruvananthapuram’s religious diversity and living devotional traditions.

Visitors should dress respectfully, follow instructions within the sacred precinct and check local arrangements if planning a visit during Uroos, when traffic and access conditions can change significantly.
