Chettuva Mangrove Forest

Chettuva Mangrove Forest forms part of the expansive Chettuva backwaters in coastal Thrissur district, Kerala. Kerala Tourism describes Chettuva as a tranquil wetland landscape of mangroves, Chinese fishing nets, islets, estuarine waters and birdlife, and states that Kerala’s biggest mangrove forest is located in the middle of these backwaters. The water system extends from Enamakkal Lake towards the Arabian Sea and is best experienced by boat from the Chettuva–Engandiyur side.

Depending on local operations, travellers may find shikaras, motorboats or houseboat-style trips that pass coconut-lined shores, fishing areas and dense mangrove growth. The appeal is ecological as much as scenic: the mangroves shelter aquatic life and contribute to the character of this lesser-known Kerala backwater destination.
