Ezhimala

Ezhimala is a prominent seven-peaked hill in Kannur district, Kerala, close to Payyannur and the northern Malabar coast. Kerala Tourism records the hill at about 286 metres above sea level and traces its importance back to the Sangha period. The region served as a centre associated with the Ezhimala and Mooshika rulers and was connected with ancient maritime trade.

Historical remains around the foothills include burial chambers, carved stone pillars, caves and granite platforms, giving the destination significance beyond its natural scenery. The hill landscape also provides wide views across coconut groves, fields, waterways and the Payyannur region. Ezhimala is additionally associated with the Indian Naval Academy, and Kerala Tourism notes that prior permission is required for entry to the academy; visitors should therefore distinguish public sightseeing areas from restricted defence premises.
