Haripad Sree Subrahmanya Swamy Temple

Haripad Sree Subrahmanya Swamy Temple, also written as the Sree Subramanya Swami Temple at Harippad, is an important Hindu pilgrimage centre in Alappuzha district. Popularly known as Dakshina Palani or South Palani, the temple is dedicated to Lord Subrahmanya. Kerala Tourism describes the shrine as one of the oldest of its kind in Kerala and notes the unusual four-armed form of the presiding deity as well as its prominent dhwajastambham, or ceremonial flag mast.

The annual Thaipooyam festival is a particularly colourful time to visit, with Kavadi-related devotion and large gatherings of worshippers. At other times, the temple offers a calmer experience and a chance to observe the ritual life and traditional sacred architecture of the Haripad area. It can be included in a wider heritage route through Karthikappally taluk, but visitors should follow temple dress codes and entry customs and confirm festival schedules locally before travelling.
