Puthangadi Jain Temple Ruins

Puthangadi Jain Temple Ruins are located near Punchavayal in Nadavayal village, Sulthan Bathery taluk, Wayanad district, Kerala. Kerala Tourism places the Puthangadi Jain temple on the Panamaram–Nadavayal route and highlights the wider Jain heritage represented by carved architectural details in this part of Wayanad. The Kerala Revenue Department describes the surviving monument as Vishnu Gudi, about 500 metres from the Punchavayal Jain temple, and identifies it as a mandapa-line type Jain structure.

Much of the original complex is in a dilapidated state, while the sanctum survives more clearly; official information also notes sculptural details including kinnara figures and a parrot rider. The monument is protected by the Archaeological Survey of India. For visitors interested in archaeology and religious history, Puthangadi offers a quieter counterpart to Wayanad’s better-known natural attractions and helps illustrate the district’s historically significant Jain presence.
