Kadamakudy Islands

Kadamakudy Islands form a scenic cluster of islands close to Kochi in Ernakulam district, Kerala. Kerala Tourism describes Kadamakudy as a peaceful network of islands surrounded by the waters of the Vembanad system, while the Ernakulam district administration identifies a group of fourteen named islands in the cluster. The landscape combines narrow roads and bridges with paddy fields, coconut groves, fishing channels and open backwater views.

Early mornings and evenings are especially atmospheric, when fishermen work on the water and birds move across the wetlands. Kadamakudy has become popular with photographers, cyclists, birdwatchers and travellers who want to experience village life without going far from central Kochi. Rather than a built attraction, the destination is best enjoyed as a slow journey through the islands, stopping at viewpoints and observing local life responsibly.
