Kakkathuruthu Island

Kakkathuruthu Island, also known as Kakkathuruth or the 'Island of Crows', is a small inhabited island in Ezhupunna panchayat in the Vembanad backwaters of Alappuzha district. Kerala Tourism describes it as a tranquil landscape of coconut groves, waterways, traditional homes and rich birdlife, with access historically dependent on country boats from the mainland. The island gained wider travel attention after being featured by National Geographic in a global photographic selection, particularly for the quality of its evening light and sunset atmosphere.
