Kappad Beach

Kappad Beach is one of Kerala’s most historically significant coastal locations, situated in Kozhikode district on the Malabar Coast. It is widely associated with the arrival of Portuguese navigator Vasco da Gama in 1498, an event that became a major turning point in the history of European maritime contact with India. A memorial at Kappad recalls that connection and gives the beach an importance beyond its natural scenery.

The shoreline itself is attractive for its open Arabian Sea views, sandy stretches and rocky formations. Visitors often come for a quiet walk, coastal photography and sunset, while the surrounding Kappad area offers a more relaxed atmosphere than central Kozhikode.
