Kappad Beach is one of Keralam’s most historically significant coastal locations, situated in Kozhikode district on the Malabar Coast. It is widely associated with the arrival of Portuguese navigator Vasco da Gama in 1498, an event that became a major turning point in the history of European maritime contact with India. A memorial at Kappad recalls that connection and gives the beach an importance beyond its natural scenery.
