Kariangode River is a major Kasaragod river associated with the Tejaswini system, shaping the Cheruvathur landscape and supporting backwaters, agriculture, fishing and village life.
The Kariangode River is one of the important rivers of Kasaragod district and is closely linked with the Tejaswini river system. Keralam Tourism lists Karyankodu among the district’s major rivers and describes it as the second-longest river in Kasaragod, while tourism material on Tejaswini traces the river through Kasaragod before it meets the Arabian Sea near Nileshwaram. Around Cheruvathur, the river forms a prominent part of the local landscape and can be viewed from areas such as Veeramala Hills.
Its waters support agriculture, fishing, village settlements and the wider backwater network that characterises southern Kasaragod. Because a river is a long natural feature rather than a single attraction point, precise coordinates are intentionally left blank. Cheruvathur uses PIN 671313 and lies in Hosdurg taluk.
Visitors can appreciate the river through viewpoints, bridges, boat journeys and nearby backwater destinations while taking care not to disturb riparian habitats.
