Keralam Biodiversity Museum

Keralam Biodiversity Museum is located at Vallakadavu in Thiruvananthapuram and was established by the Keralam State Biodiversity Board to build public awareness of biodiversity and conservation. Opened in 2018, the museum presents the story of life on Earth through interactive panels, videos, models, dioramas and other interpretive displays. Exhibits move from broad themes such as the origin and evolution of life toward the diversity of living forms and the need to protect ecosystems.

A 3D presentation is used to communicate conservation ideas in an engaging way, making the museum particularly suitable for students and families. The subject also connects naturally with Keralam’s wider tourism identity, from the Western Ghats to wetlands, forests and coastal ecosystems. Unlike a traditional specimen-only museum, the emphasis is on understanding ecological relationships and responsible stewardship.
