About Kodikuthimala

Kodikuthimala is a hill destination in the Perinthalmanna side of Malappuram district, close to Vettathur and about 10 km from Perinthalmanna town. Keralam Tourism places the hill at the highest point of the Amminikandan range and describes its green valleys, grassy meadows, springs, mist and panoramic views as the reason it is popularly called the Ooty of Malappuram. The name is linked to a story from the British period, when a flag was reportedly hoisted on the hill during a survey; in Malayalam, kodi refers to a flag and kuthi to hoisting or fixing it.

Trekking is a major part of the visitor experience, with the uneven hill terrain providing both scenic rewards and a moderate outdoor challenge. A watchtower and elevated viewpoints help visitors take in the wider Malappuram landscape, while changing mist, drizzle and sunshine can make the hill feel different across the day. Keralam Tourism recommends the drier period roughly from September to May for a more comfortable visit.
