Malayala Kalagramam

Malayala Kalagramam, also known as MAKAM, is an art and culture learning centre at New Mahe in Kannur district, Kerala. Established in 2003 by the A. P.

Kunhikannan Trust, it was created as a space where children, young people and art enthusiasts could study, practise and engage with the cultural traditions of Malabar while also encountering contemporary artistic ideas. The institution offers learning in painting, sculpture, music, dance and pottery, along with subjects such as yoga and Sanskrit. Its campus includes a library, exhibition hall, art gallery, sculpture garden and auditorium, as well as facilities for students, staff and guests.

The Fraternity Centre hosts seminars, lectures and other programmes connected with art and the humanities. Kerala Tourism notes that visitors may observe classes with prior permission from the Director, allowing a visit to become more than a conventional sightseeing stop.
