About Meenuliyan Para

Meenuliyan Para is a striking granite mountain near Vannappuram in Idukki district, Keralam, and one of the region’s lesser-known trekking attractions. Keralam Tourism places the destination on the Vannappuram–Pattayakkudi side and describes an immense rock formation crowned by evergreen forest. The mountain’s name is associated with the fish-scale-like appearance of sections of its rocky surface.

The journey is part of the attraction. Trekkers move through high-range vegetation, rocky ground and quieter paths before reaching elevated viewpoints over hills, valleys and settlements in lower Idukki. On exceptionally clear days, distant parts of central Keralam may be visible from the higher sections. The forested crown also supports wildlife, so the destination should be approached as a natural mountain environment rather than a developed picnic park.

Visitors should check current local access conditions and use experienced local guidance where appropriate. Rain and mist can make exposed rock dangerously slippery, and weather changes quickly in the Western Ghats. Suitable trekking footwear, drinking water and an early start are advisable. Meenuliyan Para is best suited to travellers seeking a physically active, uncrowded Idukki experience.
