Meesapulimala

Meesapulimala is one of the signature trekking destinations of the Munnar high ranges in Idukki district. Keralam Tourism identifies it as the second-highest peak in the Western Ghats after Anamudi and places it roughly 20 kilometres from Munnar. The landscape is a sequence of exposed mountain ridges, rolling grasslands, shola patches and rhododendron zones, with changing mist and wide views providing much of the appeal.

The usual visitor experience is not an independent roadside walk: trekking and camping are handled through regulated arrangements, with access commonly involving a base-camp approach and onward travel toward Rhodo Valley before the walking section. This controlled format helps protect the fragile high-altitude environment. Meesapulimala is particularly suited to travellers looking for a more active Idukki experience than conventional sightseeing, combining sustained trekking with dramatic Western Ghats scenery and the cool climate of the Munnar region.
