Munnar

Munnar is a major hill-station destination in Devikulam taluk of Idukki district, Keralam, set amid the high ranges of the Western Ghats. Keralam Tourism places the town at about 1,600 metres above sea level and identifies it with the meeting of the Muthirapuzha, Nallathanni and Kundala mountain streams. Its signature scenery comes from vast tea estates, green slopes, mist-filled valleys and cool highland weather.

Munnar also serves as the main gateway for many of Idukki's most visited attractions, including Eravikulam National Park, Anamudi Peak, Mattupetty, Echo Point, Top Station and the tea museum at Nallathanni Estate. The region is especially known for the endangered Nilgiri tahr and for Neelakurinji, the rare flowering shrub associated with the Munnar hills. Visitors typically combine plantation views, short nature walks, scenic drives, boating, wildlife experiences and museum visits, making Munnar one of Keralam's most complete mountain tourism destinations.
