Palaruvi Waterfalls is a natural wonder that is a must-visit for anyone who loves to be surrounded by nature’s beauty. Palaruvi, which means “Stream of Milk,” is named as such because of the frothy white color of the water that cascades down from the height of 300 feet.

Palaruvi Waterfalls is a part of the Western Ghats and is located near the border between Kerala and Tamil Nadu. The waterfall is surrounded by dense forests and is home to a variety of flora and fauna. The area around the waterfall is a popular picnic spot for locals and tourists alike.

One of the unique features of Palaruvi Waterfalls is the natural pool formed at the base of the waterfall. Visitors can take a dip in the crystal-clear water and enjoy the cool breeze that comes from the waterfall. The pool is shallow and safe for even non-swimmers to enjoy. The water is said to have medicinal properties and is believed to cure skin diseases.

The waterfall is situated in the middle of a forest, and the best way to reach the falls is through a trek. The trek to the waterfall is a moderately difficult one and takes around 30 minutes. The trail is surrounded by tall trees and lush green vegetation. As visitors make their way to the waterfall, they will hear the sound of the water getting louder and louder.

As visitors reach the waterfall, they will be awestruck by its beauty. The water gushes down from a height of 300 feet, forming a white, frothy stream that looks like a stream of milk. The sound of the waterfall is deafening, and visitors will feel the cool breeze that comes from the waterfall. The best time to visit Palaruvi Waterfalls is during the monsoon season when the waterfall is in its full glory.

Apart from the waterfall, there are other attractions in the vicinity of Palaruvi. The Kumbhavurutty Waterfalls is a nearby waterfall that is equally beautiful. The waterfall is located in a remote area and is surrounded by dense forests. Visitors can reach the waterfall by taking a jeep ride through the forest. The trek to the waterfall is a bit challenging but is worth the effort.

The Thenmala Ecotourism Project is another popular tourist spot near Palaruvi. The project is a joint initiative of the Kerala government and the Forest Department. The project aims to promote ecotourism in the area and create awareness about the conservation of nature. The project offers a variety of activities like trekking, boating, rock climbing, and tree climbing. Visitors can also enjoy a ride on the ropeway that takes them over the forest canopy, offering a bird’s eye view of the forest.

Overall, Palaruvi Waterfalls is a must-visit destination for anyone visiting Kollam Kerala. The waterfall’s natural beauty, the surrounding forests, and the natural pool at the base of the waterfall make it a popular tourist spot. Visitors can also explore the nearby attractions like the Kumbhavurutty Waterfalls and the Thenmala Ecotourism Project.
