Why this place stands out
Parunthumpara, or Grampi/Eagle Rock, is a scenic hill viewpoint near Peermade in Idukki, known for open grassy slopes, deep valleys, Western Ghats panoramas, photography and short trekking experiences.
Parunthumpara is a striking viewpoint and hill landscape near Peermade in Idukki district, Keralam. Its Malayalam name is commonly understood as “eagle rock,” and Keralam Tourism also promotes the destination under the name Grampi. The attraction is defined by open green slopes, steep valley edges and long views over the surrounding Western Ghats.
On clear days, the landscape opens dramatically toward forested hills and distant ranges, while mist can give the same viewpoint an entirely different character. Keralam Tourism identifies the area as attractive for trekking and offbeat travel, and the natural terrain makes it particularly popular for landscape photography. A rock formation associated with the eagle-like profile is part of the visual identity of the site.
Visitors should keep well back from exposed edges, especially in rain, fog or strong wind. Its location near Peermade makes Parunthumpara easy to combine with Kuttikanam and other high-range attractions while still retaining the feel of an open, windswept viewpoint.
