Pavaratty St. Joseph's Shrine

Pavaratty St. Joseph's Shrine, officially St. Joseph's Parish Shrine, stands at Pavaratty in Chavakkad taluk of Thrissur district, Kerala. The shrine's official history records an early church structure blessed in 1876 and a permanent church completed in 1880. The statue of Saint Joseph placed on the main altar that year became central to the devotion for which Pavaratty later grew into a recognised pilgrimage centre. Kerala Revenue records also list the shrine among Pavaratty's tourist places and identify the village PIN as 680507.

The annual Grand Feast, observed on the third Sunday after Easter according to the shrine, is the most prominent occasion and draws large numbers of worshippers. At other times visitors experience an active parish church with a strong devotional atmosphere and a history shaped by successive expansions to accommodate pilgrims. Travellers should remember that this is first and foremost a functioning religious site: modest dress, quiet behaviour and respect for services, processions and local directions are appropriate.
