Perumathura Beach

Perumathura Beach lies on the northern Thiruvananthapuram coast in Chirayinkeezhu taluk, close to the Muthalapozhi river-mouth and fishing area. Keralam Tourism highlights the picturesque confluence of the Vamanapuram River with the Arabian Sea, along with coconut groves and the everyday coastal character of Perumathura village. Unlike a heavily commercial beach, much of the interest comes from observing the meeting of river and sea, fishing boats, harbour-related structures and changing tidal conditions.

Groynes and sea-defence works create strong visual lines for photography, particularly in softer morning or evening light. The area should be visited with extra respect for local fishing operations and with caution near harbour entrances, rocks and rough water. Muthalapozhi is known for powerful currents, so visitors should not enter dangerous water zones or climb exposed structures.

Perumathura is best appreciated as an authentic coastal landscape rather than primarily as a swimming beach.
