Why this place stands out
Lesser-known waterfall near Vilangad in Kozhikode's Nadapuram highlands, officially documented as Thirikakkayam and known for its forested setting and roughly 50-metre drop.
Thirikakkayam Waterfalls is a lesser-known cascade in the hilly northeastern part of Kozhikode district, associated with the Vilangad–Vaanimel area. Keralam Tourism places the waterfall near Karuvalam on Vaanimel Mountain and along the Vaanimel–Vilangad route, describing water dropping from a height of about 50 metres. The Government of Keralam's Vilangad Village Office also lists Thirikakkayam among the village's tourism attractions, helping distinguish the officially documented name from the more generic 'Vilangad Waterfalls' label used in some local lists.
The surrounding landscape is steep, green and partly forested, with the geography of Vilangad rising toward the borders of Wayanad and Kannur districts. Revenue records confirm Vilangad in Vatakara Taluk with PIN 673506. The waterfall is most dramatic in the wetter months, but strong flow, slippery rock and difficult approach conditions also increase risk at that time.
Visitors should seek current local access information, avoid unsafe bathing or climbing and respect any restrictions during heavy rain.
