Thumboormuzhi Dam and Butterfly Garden

Thumboormuzhi Dam and Butterfly Garden is a popular riverside tourism spot in the Chalakudy region of Thrissur district. Set beside the Chalakudy River on the route toward Athirappilly, the attraction brings together a small dam, landscaped river garden, butterfly habitat, children’s facilities and a hanging bridge. Government and Keralam Tourism material highlights the bridge as one of the defining experiences: it crosses the river toward Ezhattumugham, or Prakriti Gramam, on the Ernakulam side, giving visitors broad views of the river and surrounding greenery.

The butterfly garden is planted to support and attract varied butterfly species, adding an educational nature element to a family outing. Thumboormuzhi is particularly photogenic when the river carries more water during the monsoon, while lower-flow periods reveal more of the rocky riverbed.
