Top Station

Top Station is a celebrated high-altitude viewpoint on the Munnar–Kodaikanal road, around 1,700 metres above sea level. From this edge of Idukki, visitors get expansive Western Ghats views toward the Tamil Nadu side, while the winding approach through tea country adds to the journey. The area is also associated with the rare Neelakurinji bloom.

About Top Station

Top Station is one of the signature viewpoints of the Munnar region in Idukki district, positioned high on the historic road toward Kodaikanal. Keralam Tourism places the viewpoint at about 1,700 metres above sea level and describes it as the highest point on the picturesque Munnar–Kodaikanal road. Its main attraction is the broad mountain panorama: on clear days the terrain drops away toward the Tamil Nadu side, revealing deep valleys and layered Western Ghats ridges.

The drive from Munnar is an important part of the experience, normally passing Mattupetty, Echo Point and Kundala before reaching Top Station. The hills around the area are also linked with Neelakurinji, the celebrated plant that flowers periodically across parts of the high ranges. Top Station is therefore best visited as a scenic road-trip destination, combining the final panoramic viewpoint with several major Munnar attractions along the way.
