Trichambaram Sree Krishna Temple

Trichambaram Sree Krishna Temple is an important Vaishnavite pilgrimage centre at Trichambaram near Taliparamba in Kannur district, Kerala. Kerala Tourism describes the shrine as a place where Lord Krishna is worshipped in Raudra Bhavam, the fierce form associated with his victory over Kamsa. The temple is believed to have origins around the 10th century and contains a two-storeyed sanctum, while murals and carvings dating to the 15th and 16th centuries add notable artistic value.

Its annual festival, held in the Malayalam months of Kumbham and Meenam and generally falling in March, lasts fourteen days and includes the ritual performance of Thidampu nritham. Another distinctive tradition is the absence of elephants from the festival, setting it apart from many other Kerala temple celebrations. The temple’s combination of devotion, mural art, architecture and living ritual culture makes it a significant stop in the Taliparamba area.
