Why this place stands out
Vagamon Mottakunnu is a major Idukki meadow attraction known for rounded green hillocks, broad views, walking, photography and visitor facilities within the Vagamon hill-station landscape.
Vagamon Mottakunnu is one of the best-known meadow landscapes in Vagamon, Idukki district, Keralam. “Motta Kunnu” refers to the smooth, rounded hillocks that create the destination’s distinctive open-grassland appearance. DTPC Idukki identifies Mottakunnu as a major tourism attraction and notes that the site has been developed with facilities for visitors along with adventure-oriented activities. Unlike the pine-covered sections of the wider Vagamon region, Mottakunnu is defined by uninterrupted grassy slopes, broad skies and layered hill views.
It is well suited to family outings, photography and leisurely walking, and the scenery changes noticeably with mist, sunshine and seasonal rain. Visitors should use designated areas and avoid damaging the grassland, particularly when the slopes are wet. Mottakunnu is easy to combine with other Vagamon attractions, but allowing time simply to walk the meadows and watch the light move across the rounded hills is often the most memorable part of the visit.
