Vazhachal Waterfalls

Vazhachal Waterfalls lies in the forested Chalakudy River corridor of Thrissur district, less than five kilometres from Athirappilly Waterfall. Unlike Athirappilly’s dramatic vertical plunge, Vazhachal is known for water surging over a broad, rocky riverbed, creating a different but equally attractive landscape. Keralam Tourism highlights the dense forests around Vazhachal for their biodiversity and importance to hornbills and other birdlife, making the area notable for nature enthusiasts as well as general visitors.

The attraction is commonly combined with Athirappilly and Charpa Falls on Thrissur’s water-tourism circuit. Forest greenery, river sound and shaded surroundings are central to the visitor experience, while the wet rocks and strong current mean the falls are best appreciated from designated safe viewing areas. Vazhachal is within Chalakudy Taluk and is approached through the same scenic forest route that connects the major waterfall attractions of eastern Thrissur.

Monsoon conditions strengthen the river flow and intensify the scenery, but also require additional caution.
