Why this place stands out
Veluthampi Dalawa Memorial at Mannadi near Adoor is a museum and cultural complex exploring the Travancore statesman’s anti-British resistance and the history of old Travancore.
Veluthampi Dalawa Memorial is located at Mannadi near Adoor, a village closely associated with the final days of Veluthampi Dalawa, the Travancore prime minister who led resistance against British East India Company influence in the early nineteenth century. Keralam Tourism and DTPC Pathanamthitta describe a memorial and museum complex established to preserve this history and the wider culture of old Travancore. Exhibits include visual accounts of Veluthampi’s life, portraits of Travancore rulers, historical documents or reproductions, archaeological objects, traditional utensils, military-related artefacts and a prominent statue of the Dalawa.
The grounds also contain an open-air component, giving the destination more scope than a single indoor gallery. For travellers interested in Keralam’s political, colonial and regional history, Mannadi offers valuable context beyond the better-known temple and nature attractions of Pathanamthitta. Museum schedules can change, so current opening information should be checked before travel.
