Vilangan Kunnu

Vilangan Kunnu is a popular hillock and recreation area in Adat Grama Panchayat near Thrissur city. Often called the “Oxygen Jar” of Thrissur, the hill is valued for its greenery, open air and elevated views over the city and the Thrissur Kole Wetlands. Kerala Tourism highlights multiple viewpoints that help visitors take in the surrounding landscape, along with an approximately 800-metre tree-lined walkway and family recreation facilities developed at the hill.

Children’s rides and other attractions make the destination accessible to families, but the natural appeal remains the breeze, greenery and panoramic outlook, especially toward evening. The site has also been promoted as differently-abled friendly and as a plastic-free zone, reflecting an effort to combine recreation with responsible visitor management. Vilangan Kunnu appears in Thrissur’s tourism circuits as a convenient sunset stop after visits to nearby dams and other attractions.

Its proximity to the city makes it one of the easiest places in Thrissur to enjoy a quick hilltop nature break without a long high-range journey.
