Manjinikkara Dayara is a hilltop Christian pilgrimage centre near Omallur, Pathanamthitta, housing the tomb of Mor Ignatius Elias III and drawing pilgrims especially for the February Orma Perunnal.
Manjinikkara Dayara Church is situated on a hill at Manjinikkara in the Omallur area of Pathanamthitta district, Keralam. The pilgrimage centre is closely connected with Mor Ignatius Elias III, Patriarch of Antioch, who visited Keralam and died at Manjinikkara in February 1932. His mortal remains were laid to rest here, and the tomb subsequently became a major focus of devotion for Jacobite Syrian Christians and other pilgrims.
The annual Orma Perunnal in February commemorates the Patriarch and draws devotees who often arrive on foot as part of the traditional pilgrimage. The hilltop surroundings, prayerful atmosphere and simple rhythm of the Dayara make the site feel distinct from busier urban churches. Manjinikkara is also close to Omallur and Pathanamthitta town, making it accessible for travellers exploring the district’s Christian heritage.
Visitors during the feast period should expect large crowds and religious processions; at quieter times, the site offers a more contemplative experience.
