Pookode Lake

Pookode Lake is a popular freshwater lake near Vythiri in Wayanad, set at roughly 770 metres above sea level amid the wooded slopes of the Western Ghats. Its compact, green setting makes it one of the district's easiest nature attractions to enjoy without a demanding trek. DTPC Wayanad highlights boating as a central visitor experience, along with walking around the lake and family-oriented facilities such as an aquarium, local food and souvenir outlets.

The surrounding forest and pleasant highland climate add to the relaxed atmosphere, and birds or other wildlife may sometimes be seen around the water and nearby vegetation. Pookode is also geographically interesting because the Panamaram River is described as originating here before flowing through Wayanad and joining the Kabini river system.
